Academic Programs
Our academic programs provide additional opportunities for students to strengthen skills, prepare for future success, and receive personalized support based on their individual learning needs.

AVID
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) prepares students for college, career, and lifelong success through academic support, organization strategies, goal setting, and leadership development. Students develop confidence while building the habits needed for future achievement.
AVID uses proven practices to train educators to prepare students for success in high school, college, and a career, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Please follow the AVID link below to learn more about AVID.

English Learner Program (ELD)
Our English Learner (ELD) Program provides multilingual students with targeted support as they develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English.
Students' English language proficiency is assessed annually in accordance with California requirements. Our ELD teacher and instructional aides work closely with students through both classroom support and small-group instruction, providing personalized guidance every step of the way.

ExCEL Reading Program
The Excellence: A Commitment to Every Learner (ExCEL) Reading Program provides personalized reading instruction to help every student build strong literacy skills. Through small-group, differentiated instruction, students receive targeted support based on their individual reading level, allowing teachers to tailor lessons to each learner's needs.
Using a variety of research-based instructional materials and our district's small class sizes, the ExCEL program helps students strengthen reading comprehension, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
Enrichment
After School Enrichment (ASES)
Our After School Enrichment and Safety (ASES) Program provides a safe, engaging environment for students after school through academic support, homework help, enrichment activities, technology, and community partnerships.
Students also participate in field trips and hands-on learning experiences throughout the Santa Ynez Valley.

Building Skills. Growing Confidence.
Our middle school athletics program gives students in grades 6–8 the opportunity to explore new sports, build fundamental athletic skills, and develop confidence in a supportive team environment. As members of the Santa Ynez Valley Junior High League, Bobcat student-athletes learn teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and perseverance while representing their school with pride.

Preschool & Early Learning
A Strong Start Begins Here
Our Preschool Program provides young learners with a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where curiosity, creativity, and confidence can flourish. As part of the District's Early Learning Center, preschool students learn through hands-on exploration, play-based experiences, and caring relationships that help prepare them for future academic success.
Developed in partnership with the Santa Ynez Valley Healthy Start Project and the Santa Barbara County Education Office, the program features welcoming classrooms and a secure, preschool-friendly outdoor play area designed specifically for our youngest Bobcats to learn, grow, and thrive.

The Santa Ynez Valley Special Education Consortium serves students from College School District and neighboring districts throughout the Santa Ynez Valley. In accordance with state and federal law, the Consortium identifies and evaluates children and young adults (ages 3–21) who may be eligible for special education services.
If you have concerns about your child's development or believe they may benefit from special education services due to a physical, developmental, emotional, learning, or speech-related disability, we encourage you to contact your child's school for assistance.

The Well: A Space to Recharge, Reflect, and Reset
At College School District, supporting students' well-being is just as important as supporting their academic success. The Well is a dedicated wellness room designed to provide students with a safe, calming space whenever they need a moment to recharge.
Thoughtfully designed with soft lighting, nature-inspired elements, and interactive sensory stations, The Well offers a peaceful environment where students can reduce stress, regulate emotions, and practice healthy coping strategies. Whether a student is feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply needs a quiet break, The Well is available to help them return to class feeling more focused and ready to learn.
Made possible through a California grant supporting student social-emotional wellness, The Well reflects the district's commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive school community. Students are always supervised by trained staff while using the space, ensuring they have access to guidance and support whenever needed.
