Supporting Multilingual Learners Together
The District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) partners with families to support the success of students learning English. Meeting quarterly throughout the school year, DELAC provides parents and guardians with important updates about state and federal English Learner programs, student services, and district initiatives.
DELAC meetings are an opportunity for families to learn practical strategies for supporting language development and academic success while collaborating with district staff and other parents. Meetings are led by our English Language Development (ELD) team, including the District's ELD Specialist and instructional support staff.
A schedule of DELAC meetings is shared with families at the beginning of each school year. To learn more or request a copy of the meeting calendar, please contact the District Office.

Partnering to Improve Our School
The School Site Council (SSC) is a collaborative team of parents, staff, and community members dedicated to supporting student success and continuous school improvement. Working together, the SSC helps guide the development, implementation, and annual review of the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), ensuring that school goals and funding decisions align with the needs of students.
The council also provides input on the use of certain state and federal funds and serves in an advisory role for programs that require family participation and engagement. Members are elected by their respective groups and work together to help strengthen educational opportunities for all students.
Copies of the School Plan for Student Achievement are available at the District Office. For more information about the School Site Council or how to get involved, please contact the District Office.

Learning Through Service
The Community Schools program connects classroom learning with meaningful, real-world experiences. Through service learning, leadership opportunities, and community partnerships, students discover how they can make a positive impact both in school and throughout the Santa Ynez Valley.
By applying what they learn in the classroom to authentic projects and community experiences, students build confidence, develop leadership skills, and gain a deeper understanding of civic responsibility. These hands-on opportunities help prepare students to become compassionate learners, engaged citizens, and future leaders.
A highlight of the program is the Community Ambassador Program, where seventh- and eighth-grade students represent College School District while visiting local businesses and organizations to explore career pathways and learn about opportunities within the Santa Ynez Valley. Student ambassadors also participate in an annual Career Day in partnership with the Santa Barbara County Education Office's Partners in Education program.
The Community Schools Committee, led by the Superintendent and supported by Board members, faculty, staff, and community partners, helps guide these initiatives and strengthen connections between our schools, families, and local community.
