TEST SCORES

College School District has had some remarkable accomplishment in our efforts to close the achievement gap as mandated by State Superintendent Jack O'Connell. The District growth was some of the best registered in the county, and supports O'Connell's goals for all students.

The Academic Performance Index (API) Report shows how much a school is improving from year to year based on its API score calculated from the results of students on statewide tests given in the spring of each year. The state has set 800 as the target score for all schools to meet. College School District's API score in 2008 was 837. In 1999, our first API score was 728. The District's students have shown a 109 point growth in the API score in nine years.

The Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Report was made a federal requirement by the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. This report shows how well students are meeting common standards of academic performance. A school makes adequate yearly progress by meeting the following requirements:

By the Spring of 2008:

  • 35.2% of students must score at or above the Proficient level in English Language Arts.
  • 37% of students must score at or above the Proficient level in Mathematics.
  • 95% of all students enrolled must particpate in the California Standards Test.
  • All statistically significantly subgroups must meet these same criteria.

2007-2008 College District AYP Results - this chart demonstrates College School District surpassed all the criteria to meet the AYP for 2008.
