Our faculty, under the guidance of the School Leadership Team, has selected key content benchmarks from the CA state frameworks in reading/language arts and mathematics. The key benchmarks drive curriculum, instruction, and assessment and describe what all students should know and be able to do at the completion of each grade level. Grade level teams have developed specific benchmarks to monitor student progress toward mastery of the state academic standards in reading/language arts and mathematics at each grade level. These benchmarks are implemented and evaluated each day by all teachers. Concerns and suggestions regarding the achievement of the benchmarks by all students are discussed at weekly grade level meetings. The key benchmarks are provided to parents in grade level brochures distributed at back to school night each fall.

The grade level brochures also offer suggestions for parents to help their students achieve academic success. In addition, parent help is offered through our district and site English Language Development Advisory Council (Dlac/Elac) activities and other community resources.

The progress that students are making toward achieving these rigorous standards is communicated to parents via regular progress reports and standards based report cards at all grade levels at the end of each trimester. These report cards are aligned to the district’s grade level key benchmarks.
